1. Confirm machine model and bucket version: The 972 family has multiple generations (G/H/K/L/M/GC/XE). Bucket lip length, thickness, hole quantity and spacing vary for different year buckets. Verify OEM part number first to avoid dimension mismatch.

2. Material selection: Double bevel reversible boron steel for sand, gravel and general earthwork. Thick through-hardened single bevel type for quarry, rock and heavy mining impact conditions.

3. Hardness inspection: Target HRC ＞50 after heat treatment. Low hardness leads to fast wear; excessive hardness causes chipping and cracking under impact.

4. Hole precision check: Verify hole diameter and center distance. Poor hole tolerance leads to difficult installation and uneven bolt load, resulting in broken bolts.

5. Thickness selection: Choose extra thick segments for heavy impact applications for better impact resistance.

6. Spare parts stocking suggestion: Cutting edges wear faster than end bits. Common stocking ratio is 1 set end bits with 2 sets cutting edges. Order matching bolts together.

7. Quality inspection & packing: Check flatness, surface crack and porosity before shipment.

8. Installation reminder: Tighten bolts to specified torque. Periodically retorque bolts to prevent loosening and tearing of the edge segment.
